Substitutes in Chemistry
Substitutes in ChemistrySubstuents chemistry is a term used to describe the type of chemical that has been substituted for another in the laboratory. This is done in order to enhance a particular chemical or material. There are many different chemicals that are substituted for each other in this manner. A small sample is the replacement of the acid with water.Substitutions occur in diverse and varied aspects. Many of these substitutions, however, come about because a substance, or chemical, is used that might be dangerous. That would be substances such as cyanide and barium. They could cause an injury by being swallowed. Substituting these substances in laboratory testing, however, can lead to more fruitful areas of investigation. Some of the ways that chemistry has been used in this regard is by making salt out of the acid, and making it into water. Other substances have been substituted with chlorine to make the water more alkaline. Substitutions have occurred due to contamination w ith the toxic substance radium.Substitutions are used in certain laboratories for purposes such as water treatment plants. Water treatment facilities often experience issues with molds and other bacteria. With such a mechanism, the water treatment plant can add the substituents to the water and allow it to go through a process to neutralize the substances in the water.Substitution is another method that can be used to improve the quality of water. This process can take place in the process of gravity filtration. Gravity filtration can isolate metals from the water. Substituted materials can also be used.Someone who is considering applying substitution in their laboratory work would probably be a materials chemist. This person would have studied the science of how substances are used. This person should be able to understand how the substances are replaced. An individual who is unsure how to proceed with substitutions should have a teacher or mentor who can guide them in their resear ch.Substitutions in chemistry can be studied and understood. A person who understands how this concept can be applied in their career can be an asset to their laboratory. If a person understands substitution, they will be able to improve their skills and knowledge.

The New SAT Its Never too Early to Know the Facts
The New SAT Its Never too Early to Know the Facts The New SAT: Tips From A Private Orange County Test Prep Tutor Some students in their junior and senior year of high school will be able to take the current SAT, soon to be known as the old SAT. However, younger students will be taking the new SAT starting in 2016. Its never too early to start prepping for this new SAT now that we are on the countdown to the major change (READ: 5 Awesome SAT Apps). 1. Take a practice exam The College Board is planning to release preliminary information and a guide for the new SAT in the summer of 2015. Apparently there will be five practice tests available and its recommended that any student who will be taking the new SAT take one of these tests ASAP. 2. Keep on reading, keep on writing Because the essay portion of the SAT will experience substantial changes, students should keep up with their reading and writing starting now. Current students often report that they struggle most with the essay, either due to writers block or lack of practice. If the current SAT essay seems difficult, just wait for the new SAT! The 2016 SAT will require students to comment on the authorâs opinion rather than their own. Students should start practicing their critical reading skills so that they can make a summary of the authorâs opinion of just about everything they read, from a pop-culture magazine to the newspaper to a school assigned novel. 3. Work with a tutor Although itâs true that tutors will be learning about the new SAT along with their students, the majority of SAT tutors will take their own practice test to understand the intricacies of this new exam before they ever work with students. This means that your private Orange County SAT tutors will have a six-month advance from when their students will take the real exam. Itâs recommended that students taking the new SAT buy multiple test prep books to supplement their studies until their tutors can get a baseline of what the average student gets on the new SAT (READ: A Timeline Study Guide For The SAT). 4. A few basic differences -The new SAT will be five minutes longer than the current SAT, not a big difference. -The new SAT will have a reading and writing section thatâs evidence-based, an updated and more difficult math section, and an entirely separate essay section. -The new SAT will have only four answer choices to choose from, as compared to the five answer choices on the current SAT. This will make process of elimination easier for 2016 students. -The new SAT will not have penalties for incorrect answers. This will be a major change in the test prep process as students will need to approach the practical applications of choosing an answer differently. (Students who have taken the ACT will already be familiar with this test prep procedure.) -The new SAT will be on a 1600 point scale, while the current SAT has a perfect score of 2400. Tutors and parents are probably more familiar with the 1600 point score, because this was used up until the turn of the 21st-century. In short There are still several months left until the start of the new SAT, but students who will be taking it are advised to start preparing as soon as possible. Since the College Board is releasing practice exams in the summer of 2015, its recommended that students start their SAT prep at that point. Students who fall within both the new and old SAT exams, are highly advised to consult a tutor as to whether not they should take the current exam or if they should simply start preparing for the new one. How To Organize Bill Payments
How To Organize Bill Payments pexels.com Make a bill paying day. Every time you run out of an ingredient or type of food in your house, you do not go running to the supermarket immediately only to buy that one item, right? You either wait until you are low on food and must go shopping or you have given yourself a specific day of the week that you always grocery shop on. And you usually do not do so pell-mell, grabbing whatever you feel like and putting it in your cart, only realizing once you have arrived home that you forgot to buy some staple ingredients. No! You are much more organized than that in fact you sometimes even have a grocery list. Why should paying your bills be any different? Instead of trying to remember the due date of each bill payment and maybe missing it, assign yourself a day or two that is devoted to bill-paying. It should be the same day(s) every month and stick to that pattern. Decide that the 15th of each month (or the 1st and the 15th of each month) is when you are going to pay your bills. Choosing days closer to the days when you get paid is ideal so that you can be sure you have the money to pay the bills at those times. Go down your checklist of bills that need to be paid and sit there and do them all at once. That way, you will not forget or miss any and everything will be paid right on time (if not early)! Write it down. Sometimes it can even be hard to remember what bills you need to pay, not even mentioning when you need to pay them. Some are not monthly, which can be harder to remember, or their due dates can be different each month. The best way to keep your bill payments organized is to write everything down. Start at the beginning. What bills do you need to pay? How often? By which dates? Then write it down somewhere that you are going to look and check often. Are you the kind of student that writes everything on a whiteboard in your room to keep track? Do you live by the dictates of your planner and write everything down in it? Do you keep a piece of paper tacked to your fridge so that you see it each time you open it? Whatever is best for you, write down and keep your list there in easy access so that you never miss another bill payment again. pexels.com Keep everything together. A lot of companies have been slowly transitioning to only providing you with electronic bills that you can pay online. But many companies still prefer and insist on sending printed bills and those can be the hardest to keep track of. You have a busy daily life and sometimes, you can just toss the mail to the side. However, that is how bills get lost. And lost bills become unpaid bills and it can all be a big mess. Avoid this by keeping all your bills together in a safe place. As soon as you receive it, put it in the pile to be addressed on your bill paying day. If you have a space on your bookshelf, keep them held up on your fridge with a magnet, or safeguard them in a little basket; do what you need to to keep them together and in a place that you will not later forget. There is nothing worse than knowing you have all the bills and that they are all together but you still cannot pay them because you cannot remember where you hid them! You can also keep all your online bills in the same place. Email inboxes can be messy places! Create two folders devoted to bill paying. One folder can be labeled Unpaid Bills and the second Paid Bills. Keep those online bills in the Unpaid folder until that one or two days a month you sit down to pay bills, and once they are paid, move them into the paid folder!

Then thereâs the Guembri played by the Gnawa people. The bass guitar was designed to be a lighter version of the double bass that could be amplified. (Source: pixelia)During the 20th century, double bass players were looking for a way to play more loudly. In the 1930s in the United States, swing and jazz reigned supreme. Bands kept playing louder and louder as they travelled from town to town.Owing to its size, the double bass was difficult to lug around and it couldnât compete with the volume from the now-amplified electric Les Paul guitar. The electric bass, just like the electric guitar, was invented to make up for this lack of volume when it came to country, rock ânâ roll, and blues music. Luthiers were looking for a more powerful instrument that was lighter than a double bass.In 1910, the Gibson company created the first acoustic bass. It was a prototype without an amplifier but it met the needs of musicians. That said, it wasnât until the 1930s that the first electric bass was created. In 1933, the American Paul Tutmarc created the Model 736 Bass Fiddle in limited numbers. It had a short-scale neck, a solid body, and an electromagnetic pickup. The next model was the same size as guitars, included frets, and could be played horizontally. Adding frets to the four-string model helped musicians play the instrument with greater ease and it was easier to hold than the prototypes. Paul Tutmarcâs instrument wasnât much of a success in the 1930s and manufacturers Gibson and Rickenbacker preferred to work on what they already had. But the idea wasnât a complete failure.20 years later, Tutmarcâs idea would come back: the electric bass was born and music and American culture were about to drastically change. The bass guitar arrived just in time to turn the world upside-down.The First Bass Guitars in the 20th CenturyThe electric bass is one of the only instruments to be originally designed with amplification in mind. The first electric bass guitar was quite different to bass guitars now. (Source: seriouslycr8ive)When Paul Tutmarc invented his electric bass guitar, it just needed the right conditions and a few changes to make it work. Industrial processes and further innovations made the bass guitar more viable.Leo Fender (1909-1991) launched the first full-scale electric bass in 1951, the Precision Bass. The frets made it easier to play the right notes and vibrations in the strings were turned into an electrical signal through the pickup. This bass guitar became very popular with Jet Harris (The Shadows), James Jamerson (Motown), and Rocco Prestia. It resulted in a very particular groove. In 1960, the Jazz Bass was released. There were new sounds available thanks to its two pickups and had a thinner neck than the Precision Bass. The pickup by the bridge offers better middles whereas the pickup closer the neck offers more bass.Throughout the 60s, plenty of manufacturers started making versions: Gibson, Höfner, Rickenbacker, and Fender all flooded the market. The electric bass, particularly Fenderâs Jazz Bass were in every studio and at every concert. The 1960s marked the age of rock: The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Animals, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, The Who, The Doors, etc. The post-war boom saw a huge cultural revolution which created a great opportunity for the electric bass to flourish. Preamps started to be included in the 1960s to boost the high and low ends. Great bassists like Marcus Miller and Jaco Pastorius used the Jazz Bass.In the same year, the following manufacturers were created:IbanezMusic ManDanelectroESP GuitarsGL InstrumentsBC RichCortAlembicWarwickBass guitars, which are tuned in fourths (E, A, D, G), slowly started to replace double basses as they were essential in genres like rock ânâ roll and pop and later heavy rock and metal.Discover the best basslines.Developments to the Bass Guitar in the 1970sIn the 1970s, some bassists went back to fretless basses. As music changed, so did the instruments. (Source: Free-Photos)Jaco Pastorius (1951-1987) was known for his fretless bass playing both while accompanying other band members or as a soloist. The fretless bass allows for warmer, rounder tones than with a fretted bass and allows you smoother slides and vibratos up and down the neck.Experimentation led to the creation of the six-string bass in 1974. The bassist Anthony Jackson asked the luthier Carl Thomson to make him one. Why?To play even deeper sounds, a fourth below the low E. The professional luthier added a low B string. He nicknamed this instrument the âContrabassâ.In the 1970s, rock music led to different woods being used for the neck: ebony, maple, spruce, rosewood, ash, etc.Luthiers started doing it all!Changes to the Bass Guitar in the 1980sThe digital age emerging in the middle of the 20th century helped create new musical styles thanks to electric instruments like guitars and basses.5-, 6-, and even 8-string basses were c reated. There were basses made from carbon, thick necks, flat necks, everything! While guitars tend to get most of the limelight, there are tonnes of different types of bass guitars, too! (Source: danpicasso2)Similarly, the 1980s saw new types of pickups, volume and tone dials, and improved nuts.Manufacturers also looked to broaden their offering to meet demand. Every musician had different tastes and they loved the choice. In the 80s and 90s, composers sought to express themselves further. This is why so many variations to the bass guitar were made. There were even basses tuned an octave lower than standard tuning. 5- and 6-string basses were used in Latin, jazz, funk, and metal music. At just under 90 years old, there are now sub-categories of bass guitar:Electric bassElectro-acoustic bassFretless bassesExtended range bass (ERB): 5- or 6-string basses.Nowadays, bassists have the choice of using combo amps, heads, amps with tubes or transistors with their bass guitars.Beware: Bass amps are different from guitar amps.
